Sustainable, Traceable Yarn. Introducing Wooltrace.

As a business that puts environmental protection and sustainability at the heart of everything we do, we are proud to introduce Wooltrace, a new fully traceable yarn range full of hand-selected, stock-supported shades and the opportunity to create colours unique to your requirements.

Dedicated to Making a Difference

Driven by social change, Wooltrace recognises consumers’ increasing desire to become more environmentally conscious and, as a result, we set about doing everything we could to reduce the impact of fast fashion and fossil fuels on the environment.

All Wooltrace yarn is fully traceable and guarantees fair pay to farmers and ensures the welfare of their animals whilst supporting the sustainability of the British farming industry.

The foundations of Wooltrace have been built on four key tenets:

Fair Price. By purchasing from our Wooltrace range you are guaranteeing a fair price is paid to our farmers.

Traceable. Full traceability back to farm. See where your wool came from by typing the batch code into our ‘farm finder’ search box.

Kind. All our farmers are kind to their animals and are signed up to the five freedoms of animal welfare.

British. Grown and spun in the UK. Proudly supporting the British farming industry.

A Product Built on Partnerships

As part of our new offering we are working closely with Woolkeepers who, like us, are committed to transforming the wool industry. Part of their ethos is to create sustainable and regenerative routes to market that benefit farmers, animals, consumers, and land in equal measure. It was this shared set of values that ensure the perfect partnership.

Benefits and Features

As part of the Wooltrace experience, we have integrated a “Farm Finder” feature in to the www.wooltrace.co.uk website which allows customers and consumers to enter a product code which then presents the farm, or farms, from which the wool in their product originated. All of this provides maximum traceability and transparency for an ever environmentally conscious consumer base.

This initiative derived from a mission to create a united supply chain and raise the profile of wool grown and spun in the UK to support the British farming industry and it’s something we will continue to strive to achieve.

Doing Things the Right Way

Speaking about the launch of Wooltrace, Laxtons Head of Sales, Carly Smith said:

Wooltrace is a project very close to our hearts due to the huge social and environmental benefits it presents. Supporting British Farmers through fair pay is at the heart of what we do along with working to provide renewable, biodegradable yarn to stop the microplastic pollution of our land and oceans.
